Rowan School was filled with excitement and imagination as learners came together to celebrate World Book Day on 5th March 2026.
The day began with learners arriving dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing a wide range of stories to life across the school. The creative costumes helped spark conversations about books, characters and storytelling, setting the tone for a fun and engaging day.
Throughout the day, learners took part in a variety of literacy-based activities designed to inspire a love of reading and writing. Classes worked collaboratively to create their own stories using story spinners, encouraging imagination and teamwork. Learners also designed and built story boxes, creating detailed 3D scenes inspired by their favourite books.
As part of the celebrations, learners were invited to visit Coseley Library, where they took part in an interactive book quiz and had the opportunity to exchange their library books. The visit provided a valuable chance to explore a community resource and further develop their enthusiasm for reading.
Back in the classroom, learners worked together to create a large display inspired by Elmer the Elephant, which now proudly decorates a classroom window. The colourful and collaborative artwork reflects the creativity and joy experienced throughout the day.
Snita Verma, Principal at Rowan School, said:
“World Book Day is always a highlight of the school year, and it was wonderful to see our learners so fully engaged in celebrating books and storytelling. From creative writing to collaborative art, the day provided so many opportunities for learners to express themselves and develop a lifelong love of reading.”
The celebration was a fantastic success, leaving learners inspired, engaged and excited to continue their reading journeys.
