Learners in Cedar Class at The Rowan School have been developing their mathematical understanding through a series of practical, hands-on activities exploring length and perimeter.
Throughout the topic, learners enthusiastically investigated different methods of measuring by using rulers to accurately measure a variety of objects around the classroom. They carefully compared and recorded their findings using different units of measurement, helping to strengthen their understanding of how measurement is used in everyday life.
The class also explored how to calculate the perimeter of everyday objects by adding together the lengths of each side. These engaging activities encouraged learners to apply their mathematical knowledge in meaningful contexts while developing their problem-solving, reasoning and mathematical vocabulary.
By taking a practical approach to learning, Cedar Class built confidence in using measuring tools accurately and gained a deeper understanding of key mathematical concepts through exploration and investigation.
